K&N Travel Dinner, Science Museum - October 2004
This was one of the biggest events ever held at the Science Museum. With only 1½ hours to set up sound, lighting and staging for 1000 guests throughout the East Hall, Making the Modern World and The Welcome Wing using a crew of about 25, this was a real challenge!
Sound By Design provided sound and lighting to the East Hall for a reception which was entertained by a jazz/ rap band high on the bridge. The system comprised Meyer Sound UPA 1P & 2Ps, UPJ-1Ps and MPS-355s for the guests and E.M. Acoustics M-12S wedges for the musicians.
Making the Modern World and The Welcome Wing were transformed into a dining area for 1000 guests with amplification for background music provided by Meyer M1D, UPA-1Ps, MPS-355s and UPM-1Ps for a jazz trio who freely wandered amongst the guests. Their instruments were all connected via radio microphones and every musician utilised in-ear monitoring.
After dinner a DJ provided entertainment in the "Orange Section" 'til the early hours of the morning, after which all evidence of us ever being there was removed before the sun came up! In total, over 70 loudspeakers were used so that every guest could here exactly what they were supposed to.
"I would like to thank you and your team for a job well done. Our client was extremely impressed with the services provided including your pre-event organisation and on-site event management."
