Sound By Design was contracted to supply full production services for the NHS, Modernising Medical Careers Conference 2006 at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London.  The day was chaired by Nick Ross, giving delegates from the medical profession the opportunity to hear more about MMC and for many to have their most pressing questions answered by a panel of experts.  It was well attended by over 2,200 trainees, consultants and medical staff. 

MMC contracted Sound By Design from the very early stages to provide a full production service.  Having recently commissioned the new sound system in the Lawrence Hall, it provided the perfect opportunity to showcase the system to the venue and some new clients.  Having been given a brief to create a professional and formal set but without spending vast amounts, project manager Richard Denham designed a set using the NHS corporate colours, with the MMC corporate theme.  As the main bulk of the conference was to be centred on presenting the facts using Microsoft PowerPoint and DVD video clips, it was decided that the set was to have a large, vivid projection screen at the heart.  The whole conference was recorded and webcast onto the web at http://www.mmc.nhs.uk/pages/events.  Sound By Design was also asked to create the set graphics and banners for the event.

A regular and reliable freelancer was our sound engineer for the day, doing a fantastic job juggling 10 handheld radio microphones and two DPA 4088 headsets during the heated group question and answer session.  This provided us with the opportunity to use our Shure UHF-R radio microphones to their full potential, utilising the Shure Wireless Workbench software to plot our radio frequencies in real time, which was vital with the venue being next door to Channel 4 television studios.
