Legoland Amazing Machines – September 2008
This September saw Sound By Design's third year supplying sound reinforcement to Legoland Windsor's hugely successful “Amazing Machines” weekend. An event that provides entertainment for both children and their parents, the shows encompass an array of action-packed activities from inline skaters and BMX stunt-riders to firetrucks, amphibious vehicles, Ferraris, and the Blue Eagles helicopter display team.
Making a return this year was Europe’s premier Monster Truck display team “Big Pete” who were battling it out in the special events area with the biggest monster truck in Europe (Big Pete) and their latest truck, "Grim Reaper". This incredibly popular show features amazing spectacles including the authentic American monster trucks jumping over and crushing cars and performing wheelies!
Rather than running a low-quality 100V horn system as is traditionally used on this type of outdoor event, Sound By Design chose to install a high-quality Meyer Sound system comprising of sixteen UPA-1Ps and three 700-HP subwoofers for both high impact music playback and live commentary from the truck drivers. The system was designed to completely cover the entire length of the spectator area and could easily cope with the demands made of it, cutting through both crowd noise and the thunderous roar coming from the V8 engines in the monster trucks.
