Classical Brits Launch Party - April 2005
Sound By Design have recently supplied the sound reinforcement support for the Classical Brits Launch party for the second year running, held this year on the 19th April, in the acoustically challenging all-glass central atrium of EMI's building in Wright's Lane, Kensington, London.
The design brief was to be as unobtrusive as possible while providing high-fidelity sound reinforcement for Nicola Benedetti (violinist) and Kedie (vocalist) as well as VT playback and speeches.
The system provided was based around flown Meyer UPA-1P full-range loudspeakers, complimented with M1D subs and UPM-1Ps providing front fill and side fill. EM Acoustics M-12S monitors provided on-stage monitoring. FOH control included a Midas Venice console, BSS Omnidrive Compact Plus system management and Klark Teknik / TC Electronic outboard.
The show included a video presentation containing highlights from the event over the past five years, as well as speeches from Brits and EMI representatives, and then the nominees announced by Classic FM's Simon Bates. Nicola Benedetti gave an unaccompanied performance, which was discreetly reinforced using one of Sound By Design's Symphotec Orchestral microphones. Kedie performed to backing track using a Shure Beta 87A handheld radio microphone.
