As specialists in classical music reinforcement, Sound By Design work regularly with Classic FM. The brief is to give subtle and exacting reinforcement to what are generally 'classical performances' in every sense of the word. All concerts are recorded for later broadcast with the microphones being shared between P.A and recording.
"The degree of reinforcement depends on the programme content. We sometimes apply unusual microphone techniques, particularly when amplifying solo instruments. Capturing their original sound and giving them space, without increasing ambient background noise can be a challenge. Much more satisfying than hearing something that is close mic'd that has no depth".
