Sound By Design recently provided sound services for “Health And Happiness”, a one-off event held by The Art Of Living Foundation at the newly refurbished Wembley Arena.

Working on behalf of production company Euroscope TV, Sound By Design provided monitor control, front-of-house control, stage infrastructure and engineering for the event; an evening of live musical performances by Incognito, Bhajan and the South Indian Classical Symphony, accompanied by speeches from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to a live audience of 7000 people.

With three musical acts and almost one hundred input channels the choice of mixing consoles was simple. Out front Senior Engineer Griff Hewis chose a DiGiCo D5 Live 112EX, which also carried out all the processing and effects on board and could pick up the large number of input channels with ease.

With such a wide stage two monitoring consoles were utilized splitting the channels down the middle, one on stage left and one on stage right. A Midas Heritage 2000 was used to pick up the first 48 channels of the South Indian Classical Symphony, mixing sixteen EM Acoustics M-12S wedges, which were powered by QSC PL236 amplifiers. Outboard processing was provided by BSS and Drawmer for the analogue board.

On stage right Senior Engineer John Gale mixed the remaining two acts on a DiGiCo D1 Live, picking up the remaining 60 channels. Processing and effects were utilized on the console, with sixteen Meyer Sound UM-1As used as the core stage monitoring and a Meyer USM-1P/ USW-1P sub combination as drum fill.

For radio microphone systems, Sound By Design provided their flagship Shure UHF-R series with KSM9 capsules for all the handheld microphones and DPA 4088s for all the head-worns.
