| Sound By Design was recently approached whilst working with the BBC Concert Orchestra during the BBC Proms to tender for a run of shows with the well known comedian Bill Bailey and his creation the “Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra”.
A warm up gig was held in Brighton Dome with the main show being played in London's Royal Albert Hall. Sound By Design provided a comprehensive microphone and monitoring system as well as recording support for the HD Video Recording that took place in the RAH.
The tried and trusted Symphotec orchestral microphone system was utilised on most of the orchestra with additional support from AKG, Audio Technica and Shure microphones. Small EM Acoustics EMS-81 monitors were deployed around the orchestral sections to provide discreet foldback with Digico D1s provided at both front-of-house and monitor positions for control. The in-house d&b audiotechnik system was used at the Brighton Dome with Sound By Design's own installed Meyer Sound system being utilised for the Albert Hall dates.
As part of the TV recording package, a flown orchestral sling system of DPA and ambient microphones was supplied for crowd capture. A MADI Pro Tools system was also provided for multitrack recording with Rosendahl Nanosyncs providing clocking.
