Feast of Albion
Guildhall, March 2008

Click to enlarge   Sound By Design recently provided sound services to specialist production company Quintessentially Events for their Feast of Albion evening for the Soil Association at Guildhall. The evening was billed as an extraordinary programme of entertainment and performance with a stunning, unique menu designed by celebrity chefs and an impressive auction featuring ‘once in a lifetime’ prizes. The show proved quite a challenge for a single evening as there were four separate stages within the great hall from which different acts were to perform which included Annie Lennox, David Jordan and the Ronnie Scott All Star Band.

Sound By Design’s Dave Shepherd operated FOH and Monitors from a single mixing position with a Digico D1 console, utilising a distributed system of Meyer Sound UPA-1P loudspeakers throughout the hall with a Meyer Galileo management system to control which configuration of speakers was utilised depending on which stage was in use. In addition to this, for David Jordan’s performance, the main stage had extra reinforcement with an array of six Meyer M1D curvilinear loudspeakers fixed on top of a 700-HP sub-bass cabinet either side of the stage.

The evening was a huge success with over £330,000 raised for the Soil Association. The highlight of the evening was a performance by Annie Lennox after which Mick Jagger led a standing ovation. Guests said of the evening, “better than the Brits” and Hello Magazine said for this year’s hot ticket “Forget the Oscars and the BAFTA’s”, this organic banquet was the place to be.

Anthea from Quintessentially said, “Thanks to Sound By Design for all your help, the evening was a huge success”
