Paolo Conte
Royal Albert Hall, November 2010
|
Regular client Serious Music approached Sound By Design to supply sound support for a concert at the Royal Albert Hall by Italian singer, pianist and composer Paolo Conte, notable for his grainy, resonant voice, his colourful and dreamy compositions (evocative of Italian and Mediterranean sounds, as well as of jazz music, South American atmospheres and of French-language singers like Jacques Brel and Georges Brassens) and his wistful, sometimes melancholic lyrics.
Sound By Design supplied an Avid (formally Digidesign) VENUE D-Show system, complete with an all access Plug-in pack for FOH duties as specified by Paolo’s engineer. Our regular installed Meyer Sound M2D/ M1D flown system was utilized for FOH PA supplemented with our larger front fill system of UPA-1Ps, UPJ-1Ps, UPM-1Ps and 700-HP sub-bass all kept in check with a Meyer Sound Galileo 616 system management processor networked on a wireless access point. Monitors were catered for by a 48-channel Yamaha M7CL complete with a selection of d&b MAX 15” monitors for the main band and EM Acoustics M-12S monitors for the orchestra. It was also one of the first outings for Sound By Design's brand new Shure PSM900 in-ear systems. A selection of microphones from Shure, AKG and Neumann were in use on the orchestra. |
