Spring Dance
London Coliseum, April 2009
|
Sound By Design were recently commissioned by Raymond Gubbay Ltd to supply the sound reinforcement system for their new “Spring Dance” season in the London Coliseum, one of London’s largest and best equipped theatres.
The system was in situ for three weeks and covered shows ranging from Russell Maliphant Contemporary Dance Company, who presented a mixed programme of highlights from the last 10 years, Birmingham Royal Ballet with “Pomp & Circumstances” and “Sylvia”, and “Anton & Erin – Cheek to Cheek” which Sound By Design have been touring to packed audiences around the country since January. The system design by Phil Wright utilised Meyer Sound M1D curvilinear arrays in a flown L/R configuration including M1D-subs for balcony low-end coverage. The ground system comprised UPA-1Ps, UPM-1Ps with 700-HP sub-bass cabinets for extended low-end. On-stage monitoring duties were undertaken by UPA-1Ps and PSW-4 sub-bass enclosures, which for the playback shows were time-aligned to the FOH system. The whole system was managed by Meyer Sound Galileo processing, with the house two-tier delay system perfectly aligned to the main FOH system using Smaart 6. |
