On an evening in June, in a packed auditorium, an expectant audience arrived at the Royal Albert Hall to witness YouTube sensation Ukrainian pianist Valentina Lisitsa treat them to several beautiful pieces including works by Rachmaninov, Mozart and Chopin.
With over 43 million views on YouTube, Lisitsa has created wonderful renditions of some of piano’s most enchanting songs and has brought classical music back into the hearts of thousands and also to a new and younger generation of listeners.
As Lisitsa appeared on stage she took to the microphone greeting the audience by making a joke about a football match being played between the Ukraine and England that evening. She went on to thank the people who had led her on her professional journey before taking to the piano and amazing the crowds with her interpretations of some of the world’s most famous pieces of piano music.
To enhance the beauty of Lisitsa’s playing Sound By Design had placed two DPA 4060 microphones inside the piano for sound reinforcement in the auditorium helping the audience appreciate the full sound of the piano from wherever they were sitting within the Royal Albert Hall.
The exceptional evening was broadcast live onto YouTube where Valentina Lisitsa has irrefutably made a name for herself.
