Sound By Design has recently invested in new microphones, both wired and wireless. Our wireless stock now includes Shure's flagship UHF-R with both lapel and KSM9 handheld variants and a number of PSM700 IEM's. The wired microphones added to the inventory includes Audio Technica AT4050s & AT4033s, Shure Beta 52As & SM81s, DPA 4088 headworns, Sennheiser e906s and the brand new Audix MB1245.

Outboard has also been expanded with the purchase of Drawmer DS201 noise gates & DL241 compressors.

Sound By Design submitted a team in this years "Eurohire Challenge Cup" recently. Unfortunately, the team was beaten into third place, one point behind Eurohire but happily finished ahead of last years winners, Sound Foundation. The tournament was won by Sound, Light & Vision (formally Central Events) and the top three individual drivers were Gary from SLV, Jools from Eurohire and Sound By Design's Chappie came in third, also taking the evenings fastest lap honour.

Sound By Design are proud to announce the purchase of two DiGiCo D1 Live 48 MiNi-DR systems. Based on the award-winning D5, the D1 provides the same outstanding sonic purity and much of its powerful, instantly accessible control, in an even more compact frame.

As part of their increasing need for more in-house resources, Sound By Design have appointed two new members of staff. John Gale joins as an Engineer after a substantial period as a freelance employee and Richard Denham joins from the AV industry as a Technician.

Sound By Design are please to announce their accreditation at the Wallace Collection, which caters for a variety of events, from small dinners and parties to larger receptions. It offers clients the opportunity of entertaining in intimate, opulent rooms furnished with priceless works of art.

As part of their ongoing development of sound services available in the Royal Albert Hall, Sound By Design have upgraded their permanent installation in the building.

In another significant development, Sound By Design have also designed a new centre cluster comprising of Meyer Sound M2D and M1D cabinets.

Griff and Chappie recently attended the 3 day "Rigging For The Entertainment Industry" course held at the Total Fabrications factory.

As part of the ongoing expansion of the company, the decision was taken to expand the warehouse and relocate the workshop and the office.

Sound By Design has recently invested in a large variety of new equipment including FOH & monitor consoles (Crest Audio X-Monitor, Midas Venice 160 & 240s) , midsize line array cabinets (Meyer Sound M2D), amplification (QSC PL236s), outboard (T.C. Electronic M3000), microphones and recording hardware.

We also now carry a foldback system comprising E.M. Acoustics' excellent M-12s stage loudspeaker. It has been developed in conjunction with ourselves and the results are an extremely powerful and compact box that features differential dispersion and excellent phase properties for a passive enclosure.

Sound By Design recently took part in the second annual "Eurohire Challenge Cup" go-karting tournament. Fun was had by all and Sound By Design narrowly missed taking home the team trophy, just being pipped to it by Sound Foundation. We did, however, beat Balanced Audio and, more importantly, last years winners and raining champions, Eurohire.

Investors In People Certification

Sound By Design have recently been awarded the Investors In People certification. Investors in People is a national quality standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people.

New Website Design

With a few years of faithful service under it's belt, the decision was recently taken to upgrade the look of the website. After an intensive book reading session, Chappie thinks he has got the hang of HTML coding and the result is what you see before you now. The Corporate and Entertainment sections have been expanded with more case studies, the contacts section now has a photo gallery and the equipment hire list has been made thouroughly comprehensive.
