Sound By Design warehouse expansion
As part of the ongoing expansion of the company, it was obvious that an expansion of the warehouse and equipment preparation areas were necessary. It was decided that the most cost effective and efficient way of doing this was to relocate the office space that was currently housed within the main body of the building to another unit and for the warehouse to move into the vacated space. In order to make better use of existing space, the decision was also taken to remove the dividing walls between the various parts of the warehouse, which was a collection of smaller units that were taken on one-by-one as the company grew.
Before the main warehouse wall could come down, though, the workshop needed to be moved, which was located, at that time, up against the dividing wall in the second warehouse section. The extra store room at the back to the warehouse was deemed a very practical place to have the new workshop, but in order to make it a pleasant working environment the wall that divided it from the warehouse had to go. Over the course of a day, Chappie and Dave took it down, brick by brick, very delicately with an enormous hammer.
Once the wall was completely removed the area was cleared, the floor was painted, a new workbench was constructed, the lin bins were moved and the shelves were erected.
